Video Is Still Intimidating

I have a video camera. It makes a great webcam, and works with any application I have ever thrown at it. I just doubt anytime soon I will make a video entry. Not too long ago, a few prominent web persons decided that vlogs and video posts in general would become very popular very soon, drastically reducing the number of publications that use the written word.

It made me laugh then and it is still funny now. It was hard enough to get people to take pictures of themselves, which they can stockpile and only select the best of, let alone convince them its a great idea to state a serious opinion on a video where you get to see exactly who they are.

Sure there are plenty of video sites with plenty of users. Most of these are either gated little communities or powerhouses with enough videos that the users never seriously expect to be seen. The types of videos in both of these places tend to be short and silly, in most cases minimizing the exposure.

One with enough of an opinion to whip a blog, likely has either not enough time or lacks cojones to do video posts. Podcasts are still working their way up to being commonplace since you do not have to prepare as much, but we are still lacking a good base of vlogs.
